Things I learnt today

  • Getting into work early ahead of everyone else to catch up some on really important stuff never works out. You just get there to find another load of really important work sitting on your desk waiting for you
  • When it looks like it may be a nice sunny day at 6.30am and you think “I won’t bother with a raincoat today” check the date (e.g. “is it March? Is it summer yet?”)
  • Cycling in the rain without a coat is somewhat liberating
  • Cycling in the rain around a large 3 lane roundabout to realise your front brake is bust stops any nice cosy “liberating” thoughts and makes you just want to survive the next 20 metres
  • I really should live the “inbox zero” dream to all aspects of my life including the washing up. Not looking forward to coming home Sunday to the mount Vesuvius next to our kitchen sink
  • The new Victoria line tube trains make you realise how absolutley filthy all the other tube trains are. My first thought on getting in one wasn’t “ooh a new tube” but “ooh what’s that down there all shiny? Oh it’s the floor. Clean”
  • When deliberating at one end of your journey about getting some food treats or not just get on the feckin train as the next one will be 40 minutes away and you will end up sitting next to a man who coughs over you the whole way..
  • People who cough (without covering their mouth) during the whole 1hr 45 minute train journey home are really quite annoying
  • When you get up to move seats away from said man walk further than just a couple of seats as he could well follow you
  • Sitting on a train whilst Emma is in the VIP area at sport relief (quite probably drinking champagne all evening) sucks
