Wandered around Maplins today. Found a load of interesting things maybe useful for those looking at interesting/cheap(er) AAC solutions. Here is a short rundown of some of the finds!

iTouchPad - £19.99 - a USB external glide pad which by the looks of things can recognise gestures. Also a handy number pad. Not sure if this acts as a number pad or needs to be used with a driver/piece of software but certainly worth a look if you are in the market for an external glide pad. Can’t see this on Maplins website however - think this may not hang around for long.

aPen A2 - £59.99 - Take a look at the A2 website for more info. I’m putting this in the same category as digital pens like the livescribe - maybe useful for scribing students work. Write on normal paper is a big win over the livescribe (but without the audio capture of the livescribe)

mini Bluetooth keyboard - £29.99 -  This is one of the smallest and neatest out there I’ve come across. Looks a bit better made than the £9.99 ones on amazon

Sweex Nightvision camera - £19.99. This looks remarkably similar to the Sandberg NightCam 2. You need one of these if you are looking into using one of the Open Source eye gaze systems. Maybe worth a punt.

Kodak Photoframe Keyfob - £14.99 - Photos on a keyfob. Love the idea - not sure how long this would last but maybe better than lots of laminated symbols on a keychain.. maybe..!

Jabra SP20 -  £29.99 - Useful if you are looking at external speakers for a iPod/iPad
